What Is Adaptive Resistance Training?

Adaptive resistance training is strength training where a motorized machine matches its resistance to the force you produce on every rep. Rather than picking a fixed weight, you push as hard as you can and the resistance meets that effort in real time, through the full range of motion.

The load is never a guess. It is whatever you are actually capable of producing that day, in that position, on that rep.

At LUX Fitness, that happens on ARX equipment in a private studio in Franklin. One coach, one client, by appointment.

IT STARTS WITH YOU

At LUX Fitness, everything starts with you. We begin by understanding your goals and current fitness routine. From there, we create a personalized plan designed to help you reach those goals efficiently. Using advanced training machines, real-time data, and expert coaching, we guide you through each session. As you progress, we regularly meet to track your results and make adjustments to keep your plan on target. It’s a smart, tailored process—powered by technology and driven by your goals.

How an ARX Strength Session Works, Step by Step

A session at LUX Fitness runs about 30 minutes because everything that is not training has been removed from it.

  1. Arrive and check in. The studio is appointment-only, so your machine is free and your coach is expecting you.
  2. Warm up. Enough to get joints moving and blood flowing. Nothing deep, nothing forced.
  3. Set up the machine for your body. Seat, handles and range of motion are set to your positions and saved, so this gets faster every visit.
  4. Work through your sets on the Alpha or the Omni. Your coach calls the movements and the machine supplies resistance that matches what you produce on each rep. This is where most of the session is spent.
  5. Review your numbers. Force output, rep speed, range of motion and fatigue are on screen before you leave, next to your last session.
  6. Leave. There is no ritual at the end and no reason to linger. The session ends and your day continues.

Common Questions About the LUX Fitness Process

How long is a strength session at LUX Fitness?

About 30 minutes, start to finish. That includes your warm-up, setup, working sets and a look at your numbers before you leave. The session is short because nothing in it is filler, and because there is no waiting for equipment and no deciding what to do next.

No. Most people who start at LUX Fitness have either never trained seriously or have not trained in years. Because the machine supplies the resistance instead of a stack of plates, there is no technique barrier to clear before you can work hard safely.

No. LUX Fitness is a private, appointment-only studio, so your session is yours. There are no classes running in the background, no line for a machine and no one waiting on you to finish a set. For most of our clients, that is a large part of the appeal.

Your first session is a measurement. Your coach walks you through each machine, records what you produce on every rep, and uses that starting picture to build your plan. After that, sessions follow the plan and the numbers decide what changes.
